Staying motivated while travelling is tough but the trick is not to over think it, the initial motivation might be there, but it’s hard to maintain and the key to staying fit is consistency.
Going on a holiday means taking be a break from your work and other commitments, but don’t let that be an excuse to turn into a sack of potatoes. There are plenty of ways to stay fit even while travelling without going to the gym. Mixing up your workout is the key to keeping it interesting and enjoyable. These tips will help you stay fit and take charge of your body.
Start your day with a healthy breakfast
Breakfast is the energy that will keep you going the entire day so ensure you don’t start your day without eating a healthy breakfast as it is the most important meal of the day. Most of the hotels offer complimentary breakfast to guests, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to grab everything that will pump your metabolism. It is advised that you stock up fruits and nuts as well.
Watch what you eat
There are times when a dish looks healthy, but it is packed with loads of calories and fat. Stay away from good-looking salads that are loaded with cream and cheese no matter how appetizing they may appear. Similarly, abstain from trying those sweet and fruity cocktails at the beach. Also, if you had a heavy lunch, try skipping dinner or eat something that is light for the stomach.
Stay hydrated
Water is your best companion anytime and anywhere as you cannot have an overdose. Make sure that you drink at least 3-4 liters of water each day. The quantity could be even more if you are at a hot and humid destination. Water keeps you hydrated and helps control the appetite.
Prefer to walk
Exploring places on foot is the best way to live like a local. You will get a chance to see things closely while burning some calories. Even if you have the option to rent a motorbike to explore the destination, it is advised that you walk unless, the neighborhood is not safe, or you are traveling at night. Skip the bus, train, or taxi and go by foot! To travel is to explore. You can’t do much of that if you’re trapped in a moving vehicle. Get off there and you’ll discover so much more on foot. A strange lane might catch your eye, and before you know you it, you’ve found a super cute boutique or an amazing restaurant having burnt some calories too.
Take the stairs
Why call the lift when you have the option to lose calories by taking stairs. It is an effective cardio and strengthening workout. Look for an opportunity to take the harder route. Ditch lift for stairs in the hotel, visit a monument or attraction that has lots of stairs. We suggest that you take it as another fitness activity wherein you run up and down within a fixed time. Climbing stairs is great for the heart and building strength, you can either do this inside or outside.
An important key to being in shape is to set goals and keep a positive mindset. If you stay positive, you will be able to push yourself to get that fit body you’ve always wanted. Do not compare yourself with other people and feel terrible how your size is and feel you are not working hard enough. Always be positive and go to trainings that will motivate you and help you do the work more.
