My visit to Iwalewa gallery located in Lekki , Lagos made me smile especially because I heard the word a few days before exploring the Art Gallery.
I had just visited my mother in-law about two days before going to the art gallery and we got talking about the beauty in having a good character and then she used the word “Iwalewa”.
Iwalewa is gotten from the language of the Yoruba, one of the three major ethnic groups in South-West Nigeria which means “character is beauty“.
Visiting the art gallery is one way to delve into the rich and diverse culture of Nigeria which is manifested in the works that are being showcased by over one hundred and fifty artists.
I had a great time going on this tour and the name Iwalewa gallery of Arts truly represents the inner beauty of Arts.
