⬇️⬇️Thailand has begun the rollout of a nationwide cultural and culinary tourism programme aimed at reshaping visitor experiences throughout 2026. The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is part of a broader effort to encourage regional travel and reduce pressure on heavily visited destinations.

Under the programme, major urban centres including Bangkok and Chiang Mai will expand cultural markets, heritage walking routes, and food focused events. Coastal destinations such as Phuket and Krabi will host regional seafood festivals and community led cultural showcases. Tourism officials confirmed that local vendors and small businesses are central to the strategy.

The ministry stated that the programme is designed to attract longer stays and repeat visits by offering seasonal experiences linked to food, music, and local traditions. Sustainability measures, including visitor caps at sensitive locations and community partnerships, are also being introduced.

Tourism analysts say Thailand’s approach reflects a global shift toward experiential travel, with visitors prioritising culture and local engagement over traditional sightseeing.
